This gorgeous figurine made in black obsidian has its shell inlaid with cantera opal.
Availability: In stock
This gorgeous figurine carved in black obsidian has its shell inlaid with cantera opal and it's fairly visible it represents a tortoise, though somewhat idealized by our artisan. Its eyes are made from common opal. The word cantera (quarry) here implies this shell inlaid was made using precious opal still attached to the stone in which is naturally found. Inlaid proportion is approx. 60% percent quarry stone, 40% precious opal. This obsidian turtle weighs 340 grams and has a length of 4.9 inches. Origin: Magdalena - Jalisco, México. Obsidian and opalo both stones are found in Jalisco, México.
